Title
Rohbock - Sighisoara, Schassburg, Segesvar - 1864
Description
Old lithography signed by Ludwig Rohbock and Georg Michael Kurz and included in “Ungarn und Siebenbürgen in malerischen Original-Ansichten”, Gustav Georg Lange, Darmstadt 1863-1864. The engraving captures the town’s distinct dual structure, with the fortified “Upper Town” (Citadel) positioned on top of a hill and the “Lower Town” situated in the Tarnava Mare valley below. The iconic Clock Tower (Turnul Ceasului) is clearly visible, acting as the main gateway between the lower and upper towns. The image highlights the preserved ring walls and several of the guild towers—such as the Tailors’, Tinsmiths’, or Butchers’ towers—that defined the Saxon citadel.
